- ➤ AARP is accepting nominations for its North Dakota Andrus Award for Community Service—an honor for North Dakotans aged 50 and older who enrich their communities. The winner will be announced early fall and will select a charity to receive a $1,000 donation—applications are due by July 15. Minot Daily News
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Friday at about 8:50 p.m., fire crews from the Minot Fire Department arrived at detached garage units in southeast Minot and began suppressing a fire after heavy smoke was seen—no injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation. Minot Daily News

- ➤ MoonCats, an acoustic band that has played Minot venues since 2018, launched a Kickstarter campaign today to fund the release of their fourth album. - ➤ Choirs from Minot State University Concert Choir and the Minot Chamber Chorale began a tour lasting 10 days in Norway with their first stop in Skien where they performed in a Syttende Mai concert at Ibsenhuset—Minot and Skien are sister cities. - ➤ Minot companies Thor’s Carbon and Veterans Carbon Holdings have launched a new initiative to certify carbon capture by measuring soil carbon after using a foliar treatment—this program, which started last year with 600,000 acres enrolled, plans to double enrollment next year and offer farmers higher revenue from carbon credits sold in Europe. - ➤ State lawmakers approved $800,000 to help fund an almost $4 million sewer project at Lake Metigoshe State Park that will upgrade pump stations and pipelines; they also approved $250,000 for a water and sewer study at the Peace Garden plus additional funds to modernize its music camp and conservatory with matching support from Manitoba. - ➤ Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak visited Minot Air Force Base on May 5 to see key facilities and learn about plans to update older Cold War-era infrastructure and security systems.
