The Minot Area Chamber EDC announced its Eagle Award winners for March and April, recognizing local community members nominated for their hard work and positive attitude toward customer service — the list features individuals from various organizations across the region.

Dr. Brian Tin-Maung and Dr. James Schmidt were honored for their teaching excellence when awards were presented at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences—Dr. Tin-Maung received the Dean’s Special Recognition Award while Dr. Schmidt was named outstanding teacher by graduating students at the Northwest Campus in Minot.

The Minot State University Alumni Association announced four honorees for the 2025 Golden Award and selected Joseph Davis for the Young Alumni Achievement Award.

The awards dinner — scheduled for Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. at the Minot State Student Center Conference Center — will honor the recipients and their contributions to MSU and the community.

Weather permitting, Minot State University will plant red clover as a cover crop on Tuesday at the former Erik Ramstad Middle School site as part of developing the Plum River Native Prairie—this cover crop, recommended by Ruth De La Cruz of Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College, holds cultural and soil benefits and will be used to create a STEM lesson plan for local educators.

Ginger Quam, a financial advisor from Minot, qualified for Edward Jones’s Impact conference that honors 489 of the firm’s top advisers chosen from over 20,000 and includes leaders from the US and Canada.

The conference starts today in Scottsdale and runs through Thursday—giving her a chance to learn new ideas—and is expected to strengthen her client service.

On May 2, load crews from the 23rd and 69th Bomber Generation Squadrons competed at the Weapons Load Competition at Minot Air Force Base to secure inert GBU-31 Joint Direct Attack Munitions to a B-52H Stratofortress + the event included written and dress inspections aimed at enhancing mission readiness.

Drivers in Minot face traffic disruptions today due to a storm sewer replacement project on Puppy Dog Coulee that impacts 22nd Avenue SW near Dakota Square Mall—businesses like McDonald’s remain open, though access is rerouted via 15th Street SW as other intersections stay open until October 2026.

At Minot Air Force Base, the Military Family Life Counselor program provided free, anonymous counseling that allowed airmen to discuss personal and financial issues without affecting their military records.

The service served 1,569 participants in the first quarter and will refer airmen to other resources as needed—ensuring enhanced readiness.

On April 22, a U.S. Air Force Wildland Fire Branch crew member collected Russian Olive trees cut down on Minot Air Force Base — clearing frontlines on the base.
