COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ On May 1 and 2, five Minot DAV Chapter 4 delegates attended the Department convention in Bismarck (two elected to department offices, one named Outstanding Chapter Member) and the chapter received the Outstanding Chapter of the Year Award. Minot Daily News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame announced its 2026 inductees with a dinner on Friday, June 12 in Medora and an award ceremony at Tjaden Terrace on Saturday, June 13. The Miss Rodeo coronation is set for noon on Saturday plus both events are open to the public. Minot Daily News
- ➤ Citizens Alley announced its summer lineup for the Levitt AMP Minot Music Series free concerts granted by the Levitt Family Foundation. Concerts will take place on Thursday nights from June 4 through Aug. 20, with the venue opening at 5 p.m. and shows starting at 6:15 p.m. Minot Daily News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Minot Public Schools announced a new district logo and a silver-gold color palette on Monday, May 4—each color representing one high school—while new branding will roll out on signage, publications and digital platforms over time. Minot Daily News
- ➤ Jody Kerzman brings good news that a local elementary school's Good News Club has grown from five to 30 students (over six years) and is now offering a platform for positive community learning. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Minot Public School District reached a tentative one-year contract with its teachers' union that includes a raise (pay matrix adjustments and savings reallocated from a new health insurance carrier). The agreement awaits union ratification and school board approval. KFYR-TV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department & North Dakota Game and Fish Department urge park visitors to clean boats and gear during ANS Awareness Week, May 3-9, to stop aquatic nuisance species from damaging local waterways with cleaning stations available at sites like Lake Metigoshe and Grahams Island. - ➤ Firefighters battled fast-moving wildfires that burned roughly 2,000 acres near Dunseith & Belcourt over the weekend. Crews totaling over 100 workers contained much of the blaze by Sunday evening while monitoring continues today. KFYR-TV

- ➤ North Dakota Health and Human Services announced Dr. David Hunnicutt, former WELCOA CEO (with 20 years of leadership), as its Rural Health Transformation Program strategist. He will guide planning to optimize the $199 million CMS award for rural care. Minot Daily News
- ➤ Political leaders met earlier this week in Washington to address rising fertilizer prices from the Iran conflict — Sen. John Hoeven outlined North Dakota ag tech plans to help local farmers be more profitable. KFYR-TV
