COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Over the past two days, more than 100 veterans from western North Dakota took an honor flight to Washington, D.C. and toured memorials in recognition of their service — receiving heartfelt welcomes that affirmed their local legacy.  KFYR-TV
  • NDAD awarded $7,300 to Kalix’s Day Habilitation program in Rolla — replicating the sensory room and quiet space model from Minot — as part of an Adaptive Recreation Grant cycle that funded $60,390 for organizations across the state.  Minot Daily News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The North Dakota Stockmen’s Association has released its new brand book (a record of roughly 20,000 registered livestock brands) that has served as a legacy since 1892. Producers renew their brands every five years and copies are available at the association office or by mail.  KFYR-TV
  • Crews are renovating the historic St. Leo’s Catholic School, a building closed in 2010 with a storied 1926 legacy, to convert its gym into office spaces and meeting rooms while the church maintains a Thursday community meal program and aims to finish work by September.  KFYR-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Department of Public Instruction is proposing new rules for schools seeking a four-day week that require meeting two of three academic goals. A public hearing will be held on Wednesday, June 4 at the State Capitol, with comments due by Monday, June 15.  KFYR-TV
  • KMOT celebrated top high school seniors at Minot State on Wednesday with its Best of the Class event, honoring standout academic and leadership achievements and awarding a $500 scholarship to McKinnley Kragh. Bishop Ryan student-athlete Tochi Udekwe was recognized as she prepares for her next step in college.  KFYR-TV

  • Meteorologist Jacob Morse will host 'Summer of Tornadoes', a documentary special that revisits the record 82 tornado events of 2025 through interviews + firsthand accounts. The documentary premieres Wednesday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m. CT on KFYR+.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Washington is moving the Farm Bill to the House floor that offers farmers more certainty as rising costs hit them due to Iran unrest. Rep. Julie Fedorchak said it includes plans for year-round E15 sales + crop insurance updates + increased nutrition funding.  KFYR-TV
  • Northrop Grumman and the U.S. Air Force are making strong progress on the Sentinel program as it prepares for its first flight test in 2027 and aims for initial capability in the early 2030s. The program is testing missile boosters + guidance hardware to modernize systems at Minot Air Force Base.  Minot Daily News

  • Vitalant is hosting a series of blood drives this May to honor mothers and ensure a steady supply for patients in need.
