  • The Minot Board of Realtors is accepting donations from residents to pay off student lunch bills from April 1st until the end of the month — donations can be dropped off at Brokers 12 or delivered to the MPS Nutrition office.  KFYR-TV
  • A family organizes its annual Skate for Logan event to honor their son's memory and help local kids enjoy skating — the event continues a tradition that brings the community together.  KFYR-TV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Minot Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1028 Valley Street Monday morning after the sole occupant safely exited — firefighters from all five stations quickly controlled the flames as the home sustained significant damage and no injuries were reported.  Minot Daily News

CRIME NEWS

  • Minot Police arrested Delino Deshields Nelson—32—on Monday during an unrelated call in northwest Minot after receiving information he was wanted in Tarrant County for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; after locating him at a local hotel, officers took him into custody and sent him to Ward County Jail pending extradition.  Minot Daily News
  • On Monday afternoon, police in Minot arrested Delino Nelson – a 32-year-old fugitive wanted in Texas for aggravated assault – at a northwest hotel and he is now held at Ward County Jail pending extradition.  KFYR-TV

  • Minot Symphony Orchestra will screen Walt Disney Animation Studios’ The Lion King with a live performance of Hans Zimmer’s Oscar-winning score on Saturday, May 3, led by conductor Efrain Amaya at 7 p.m. in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall — tickets are sold out so interested guests must call 8584228 to join the wait list.  Minot Daily News

  • The Stroklund brothers took part in an Honor Flight from Minot last weekend that brought them to Washington, D.C. to visit veteran memorials and meet officials such as Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum — their family legacy includes nearly 143 years of military service.  Minot Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health officials in North Dakota are preparing for measles as nearly 900 cases and three deaths have been reported in states like Montana and Minnesota—officials say boosting vaccination from the current 88% rate is key to protecting high-risk groups. They urged those eligible to get vaccinated to help prevent an outbreak.  KFYR-TV
