CULTURE NEWS

  • Minot performer Zeb Wallace will host the 60th anniversary Medora Musical this summer, a dream come true that allows him to represent North Dakota with pride. He will join returning host Felicity Jemo as The Burning Hills Singers perform more than 90 shows from June 4 through Sept.13 – marking a milestone celebration in the region.  KFYR-TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A new American Lung Association report shows that Minot and Ward County experienced some of the nation’s worst air quality recently as wildfires and extreme heat led to 10.5 unhealthy days, prompting residents to monitor conditions before spending time outside. The report noted that while annual air quality remains generally good, short-term pollution spikes from wildfire smoke—especially from Canada—continue to raise health risks.  Minot Daily News

  • The city council reviewed a revised alcohol ordinance on April 21st — formal action will come in the next few weeks; the proposal offers changes to liquor establishment rules and two options for removing the cap on retail licenses, including compensation for current holders.  Minot Daily News

  • Minot State has opened the new Serenity Suite in its student health clinic to help students, staff, and faculty relax. The suite features a massage chair, a seasonal affective disorder lamp and a sound lounge—free to use with appointments scheduled online or in person and an open house today at 1 p.m. at the south entrance of Lura Manor.  KFYR-TV
  • Ron Merritt was named chairman of the Trinity Health Foundation Board on Wednesday. He is vice president of Business Development at Town & Country Credit Union in Minot and has led local organizations, including roles at the Roosevelt Park Zoo and the Minot Park District.  Minot Daily News
