CULTURE NEWS

  • The Taube Museum of Art is inviting artists to submit original work for its Art in Motion exhibit, available May 8-30 in Minot; submissions are due by May 6 with a fee of $15 for up to four entries and $5 for extra pieces.  KFYR-TV
  • ND Farm Bureau is hosting a photography contest — entries are due Sept. 1 — that invites photographers statewide to submit watermark-free images in animals, crop/landscape, or lifestyle for a $300 prize in each category and a printed canvas for the scholarship fund.  KFYR-TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Fertilizer prices have surged, leaving farmers in North Dakota facing a crisis as 70% nationwide cannot afford needed supplies + global market disruptions from the conflict in Iran inflate costs. A federal farm aid package passed last December offers some relief while more action is called for.  Minot Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Town & Country Credit Union announced its fifth annual scholarship program, awarding $10,000 to ten outstanding students (including Ally Larson of Minot North High School) to help support their college plans.  Minot Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City council approved changes to improve safety as First Baptist Church’s expansion leads 4th Street SW to become one-way southbound to clear sight distances for drivers. The plan includes reducing the speed limit on nearby 2nd Avenue SW, with costs estimated at about $600.  KFYR-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Work is underway on a new video board at historic Corbett Field to upgrade the game day experience. Minot Parks purchased the board (nearly $300K donation from Northern Bottling) and it is expected to be fully installed by the end of May, just in time for local baseball games.  KFYR-TV
