The Spirit Lake Tribe, in partnership with Cankdeska Cikana Community College and the USDA, will host a Community Conservation & Food Sovereignty Outreach Day at the college auditorium in Fort Totten on April 28.

Sessions will start at 10 a.m.—lunch is at noon and the event will end with guided tours between 3 and 4 p.m.—as leaders discuss conservation efforts and food initiatives.

On Sunday, various fire departments responded to a grass fire near the Highway 2 and 52 split by Burlington that burned 300 to 400 acres, closed Highway 52 north of the split, and involved crews from Minot Rural, Berthold, Surrey, Carpio and the Forest Service who worked to keep the fire away from one home—no injuries or structures were affected.

Town & Country Credit Union announced promotions for two executives – Shannon Webster is now senior vice president of Member Experience to lead marketing, digital services and the member center while Renata Buen has been promoted to senior vice president of Mortgage and Retail based on her 20 years of experience. These changes strengthen the credit union’s efforts to boost member service.

The Big One Art and Craft Fair is celebrating 50 years in Minot by drawing more than 400 local vendors and visitors to enjoy crafts, art, and food.

Organizers said the event—started in 1975—has grown to offer a spring show and plans a fall fair for additional local participation.

The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa is building a community roundhouse near Belcourt as part of its tourism initiative with new water and trampoline parks and updates to rodeo and horse racing facilities.

The tribe also will construct a veterans memorial park in Dunseith this year and finish a 170-foot powwow arbor by summer 2026—projects meant to boost the local economy.

On Saturday, about 100 Minot residents gathered along Broadway to protest federal decisions made in Washington on the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution — they denounced actions like ignoring the Supreme Court, dismantling agencies, and firing civil servants.

A local group called Jordan’s Promise delivered Easter care baskets to Trinity Health’s NICU on Sunday to support families of premature babies with items like diapers, clothes, toys and care supplies.

The organization—founded by Asher and Zach Lutz in honor of their daughter—will offer quarterly support in Minot with plans to expand statewide.
