- ➤ Minot Police and Fire will host the annual Guns N Hoses charity hockey game today at 3 p.m. at Pepsi Rink at Maysa Arena—raising funds for Tyanna Weeks and her family as her crash with an intoxicated driver inspired new law—and the event will feature a chuck-a-puck contest and a 50/50 raffle. - ➤ Minot resident Zeb Wallace will serve as co-host for the Medora Musical’s 60th anniversary season this summer — he joined the production after auditioning last year and working backstage. He will team up with fellow host Felicity Jemo to bring a Magic City flavor to the event. Minot Daily News
- ➤ The Pioneer Village Museum now displays a large collection of Rosemeade Pottery donated by longtime collector Aunt Joyce who gathered over 300 pieces from the 1960s to 2015. The museum moved its opening day to May 7—weather permitting—and invites visitors on the second floor of the Samuelson House to see distinctive pieces inspired by local wildlife from artist Laura Taylor Hughes. - ➤ Minot officials are still having trouble filling the police chief role because few people have applied despite the extended deadline. City Manager Harold Stewart said the recruiter is aggressively working to reach more candidates for the position set for discussion at Monday's council meeting. KFYR-TV
- ➤ The Minot City Council discussed a proposed $955.5M Capital Improvement Plan on Thursday that includes a new southside fire station estimated at $6.37M and plans to repurpose the current Station One to meet fire and police needs. Officials said they will fund projects with federal funds and sales tax dollars — including extensive flood control, water and sewer upgrades and legacy city hall improvements — to address growing city needs. - ➤ North Dakota’s Congressional representative Julie Fedorchak said her first 100 days in office have shown progress on federal policies—regulatory rollbacks like canceling a methane tax that would hurt local energy producers and steps to extend tax cuts for agriculture and small businesses.
