COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Wreaths Across America/MinotWreaths.org and the Civil Air Patrol Magic City Composite Squadron are launching the Cadet Challenge, a fitness-based event that honors veterans and teaches youth leadership. The event will be held on Sept. 13 at 3 p.m. at Sentinel Field, Minot North High School as sponsors pledge wreaths per mile run.  Minot Daily News
  • SRT Telephone Cooperative is celebrating 75 years of innovation with a History of Innovation theme; its annual meeting on June 18 will feature an art piece unveiling (a thank-you to members) and the start of a summer tour to 30 towns to showcase new technologies.  Minot Daily News
  • The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa is advancing community projects in Belcourt, including a powwow facility, cultural center, and a walking path to SkyDancer Casino, with new housing and garden plans coming this summer — tribal Chairman Jamie Azure said these steps will create opportunities for future leaders.  Minot Daily News

  • Minot State University's art department hosts comic book artists Tom Fleming and Dave DeVries during iMagicon, scheduled April 24-26 at the North Dakota State Fair Center. They will present their careers on Monday, April 27 at 10 a.m. in Aleshire Theater (all events are free to attend).  Minot Daily News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • ND commercial airports had 117,481 boardings in March, a 4.6% drop from last year but still the second strongest March on record, while Minot International saw 12,998 boardings, down 21% + reflecting strong spring travel demand.  Minot Daily News
  • NG2 Greenhouse near Parshall now produces strawberries and vegetables for tribal programs and local food pantries, with produce sold at the on-site retail store (open weekdays 8 a.m.-6 p.m.). The project will expand in four phases to boost capacity and create jobs.  Minot Daily News

  • HUD announced over $1B in housing grants for American Indian tribes — including nearly $30M for tribes in North Dakota to support affordable housing projects.  KFYR-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • ND Department of Health and Human Services reported that influenza and RSV cases decreased statewide for the week ending April 11 while COVID-19 cases saw a slight increase. The preliminary data monitors hospitalizations, test positivity, and seasonal trends for respiratory illnesses.  Minot Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The North Dakota Coaches Association announced the Class A/B and AA Lions Basketball All-Star rosters on Friday, highlighting teams from various schools - the series will take place on July 8 in Bismarck and July 9 in Fargo.  KFYR-TV
  • Minot High boys golf entered spring without a team win in three years but broke the trend with wins in two meets—Parker Argent earned recognition as SERVPRO Athlete of the Week, boosting the team's early season success.  KFYR-TV
