COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Minot VFW Post 753 is donating 280 teddy bears today to local fire departments, police and hospitals to comfort children facing trauma. VFW commander Dustin Dezot said this is the post's first bear project. Minot Daily News
- ➤ St. Leo’s Catholic Church is converting the former school’s main floor into offices to preserve its history; the city approved a $65,000 loan for facade repairs (approved Apr. 6), and contractors will demolish an adjacent brick structure next week as work aims for completion by September. - ➤ Edison Elementary students donated 744 pounds of food (and $375) to the Our Lady of Grace Food Pantry this week to support its mission. Paulette Streitz said the students' efforts helped bring vital supplies to the community. KFYR-TV

- ➤ On Saturday, March 7, Bottineau Winter Park held Alpine Glow Fest II featuring skiing, snowboarding, tubing, music, and hourly fireworks that united local residents and military members (from Minot AFB) for a festive community outing. Minot Daily News
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Basin Electric will break ground this spring near Ray on a $4 billion natural gas power plant. Pile driving will continue through May or June and a ceremony is set for May 11 while the project supports local communities and creates 1,000 peak jobs plus 40 to 50 permanent roles. Minot Daily News
- ➤ AgriTec in Deering is adapting to higher fertilizer and chemical costs as planting season nears; owner Jerry Miller (who rebuilt the center after a fire) says many farmers secured supplies at lower prices and the center is testing new planting strategies to save money. KFYR-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Chilaka Ugobi from Our Redeemer’s Christian School won first place at the National Civics Bee Regional Competition held today in Minot + Summer Williamson and Elsa Brown placed second and third. The top 10 will move on to the state contest in Bismarck. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Minot High School's board voted to adopt the embedded Magician logo as its new secondary logo following a trademark dispute with the University of Minnesota — the decision came after a survey of 3,800 community members that favored the change, and the board will submit a plan to retire the old block M branding. - ➤ On Monday, April 6, mayor Mark Jantzer and Air Force leaders signed proclamations at City Hall to name April the Month of the Military Child, mark April 6 as Girls Basketball Appreciation Day for the Minot High team, and designate April 6—12 as Public Health Week. Minot Daily News

- ➤ The Minot Family YMCA hosts a Parkinson’s awareness walk today from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Magic City where participants will complete six laps to highlight that every six minutes someone is diagnosed with the disease and are encouraged to register ahead. KFYR-TV
