BUSINESS NEWS

  • Urban Winery in Minot is launching its first wine club meetings this year, where members meet monthly to taste different wines and create new blends. Owner Eric Hansen said his favorite part is watching members build their wine cellars—those interested can contact the winery online.  KFYR-TV
  • Sam Paszek joined the Ackerman-Estvold’s Minot office as an environmental specialist — he earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Dakota College of Bottineau and will focus on wetlands delineations and GIS data — while Brii Marto was hired as a receptionist with a BA in communications from the University of North Dakota.  Minot Daily News

CRIME NEWS

  • At Minot Municipal Court on April 2 and April 3, five local defendants were sentenced for Class B misdemeanors—27-year-old Le Carl Dwan Branch received four counts of disorderly conduct with six days in jail, 360 days unsupervised probation and a $175 fine; 64-year-old Russell Keith Gullickson was fined $225 for disorderly conduct; 44-year-old Jason Wood Lee received a $350 fine for driving under suspension; 43-year-old Kristina Lynn Crosby got a DUI/APC-first offense sentence with 10 days in jail, additional evaluations and a $775 fine; and 55-year-old Paul Martin Henrikson was sentenced for a dangerous animal charge with 421 days unsupervised probation, no contact with his victim and a $225 fine.—  Minot Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Saturday, Senate Majority Leader David Hogue discussed legislative proposals at a forum at Minot Area Chamber EDC regarding property tax relief, noting that a House bill credit of $1,450 became an amended Senate credit of $1,250 capped at 75% of a taxpayer’s bill—lawmakers also debated school mill levy buy-downs and a plan for annual legislative sessions to control spending and boost relief in upcoming sessions.  Minot Daily News
  • At a Saturday legislative forum in Minot, lawmakers debated a resolution that asked voters to change state term limits; the measure passed in the Senate 24-23 and in the House 53-39 and would allow four four-year terms instead of two per chamber—supporters said it would bring needed experience, while opponents called it disrespectful. Lawmakers also discussed funding changes for a State Fair security upgrade and a proposal to remodel a downtown building into a Health Sciences Institute, with both proposals set to go to conference committee.  Minot Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Tamala Bowen has been promoted to director of Laboratory Services at Trinity Health and will now manage lab operations, quality assurance and phlebotomy supervisors at Trinity Health Hospital and Trinity Health Western Dakota. She served as interim administrative director since 2024 and worked for eight years with LabCorp in Tampa and Seattle — her background supports the appointment — according to a Trinity news release.  Minot Daily News
