- ➤ The Minot Community Endowment Fund announced that it is accepting grant applications for the 2025 cycle with $69,360 available — only online applications will be accepted. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits or government agencies, and applications must be submitted by May 31 — technical assistance is available if needed. Minot Daily News

- ➤ Minot woman Leoné Nera has sent dozens of quilts to orphans in India since she began quilting in 2005. She is honored as the featured quilter at the Minot Prairie Quilt Festival today — where lectures, vendors, and quilts are on display. KFYR-TV

- ➤ Minot Air Force Base teacher Angela Peterson — a third-grade teacher at North Plains Elementary — was named the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year after wins at post and district levels; the post also honored scholarship winners Piper Erickson of Minot High School-Magic City Campus and eighth grader Carmella McWilliams of Erik Ramstad Middle School. - ➤ Minot has been named a 2025 Great American Defense Community by the Association of Defense Communities for its support of Minot Air Force Base—this honor was announced in Washington, D.C. and local leaders said the ADC will celebrate the community with visits this summer and at the ADC Innovation Forum in Monterey at the end of October. - ➤ Representatives from Minot State University, Dakota College at Bottineau, Trinity Health and the Minot Area Chamber EDC testified to a House subcommittee Friday that $13 million must be restored to fund a Health Sciences Institute in the downtown Trinity Health West building — if the 2025 Legislature approves, the institute will begin training nurses and allied health professionals within a year or two. - ➤ Col. Daniel Haugen of the North Dakota Highway Patrol announced five promotions and assignments for nine troopers who completed field training, including Sgt. Matthew Johnson who was promoted to lieutenant on March 17—he now serves as the Northwest regional commander in Minot—and three other officers taking new roles at safety, special operations and criminal interdiction teams.
