CULTURE NEWS

  • The Little Miss Pageant will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Taube Museum of Art in Minot, where contestants work with experienced pageant women in talent, character and personality competitions with an optional 'Barbie' outfit category — the contest emphasizes individuality and character over material values as noted by director Alissa Myers.  Minot Daily News
  • More than 100 youth gathered in Minot this past weekend at West Minot Church of God for the For The One Youth Conference organized by Pulse Evangelism to learn ways to share their faith in schools and neighborhoods. The event featured workshops with speakers including founder Nick Hall—organizers said additional events are planned on June 17, July 17, and Aug. 9.  Minot Daily News
  • Minot Quilt Guild will host the annual Minot Prairie Quilt Festival on Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the North Dakota State Fair Center. The 30th festival will display hundreds of quilts in judged categories along with workshops and vendors, with featured quilter Leone Nera sharing her quilting journey—she started quilting for her grandson and now donates quilts to children through her ministry.  Minot Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Ward County Commission will hold public hearings on Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Ward County Administration Building—commission chambers to discuss an ordinance on financial instruments for rural subdivision roads and a variance request. The meeting will also include an update on Basin Electric's special use permit along with discussions on human resources interim pay, paving upgrades on County Roads 8 and 11, and a Lawrence Welk Day proclamation.  Minot Daily News
