COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Roosevelt Park Zoo is preparing to host its Easter at the Zoo event on April 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Families can enjoy crafts, photos with the Easter Bunny, and free entry for members while nonmembers pay $5 at the gate.  KFYR-TV
  • The 4th Annual Best of MAFB Awards celebrated top local hangouts, schools, and eateries on base as community votes recognized winners. Rockers Bar & Grill won Best Hang Out on Base and North Plains Elementary earned Best School & Minotauros repeated winning Best Winter Activity, showcasing the best of base life.  Northern Sentry
  • The Western North Dakota Honor Flight was chosen as the grand marshal of the 44th North Dakota State Parade — themed Honoring 250 years of Heroes. The parade will be held Saturday, July 18 in Minot at 9:15 a.m., following Burdick Expressway East from Broadway to the State Fairgrounds.  Minot Daily News
  • Last night, local leaders at the annual MACEDC banquet at Regency celebrated the strong ties between the business community and the Air Force with heartfelt speeches and a passing of the leadership baton; Bottineau Winter Park will close this weekend—Sunday is the final day for visitors.  Northern Sentry

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Little Blue Elephant food truck has returned to Minot AFB since March 23rd and serves Thai cuisine and fresh sushi to Airmen and families. The truck is parked next to the Central Brew Coffee Kiosk – an easy stop for a quick bite during weekday lunch hours.  Northern Sentry

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Magic City Figure Skating Club is hosting its 44th annual Heroes vs Villains ice show this weekend at Pepsi Rink in the Maysa Arena, featuring over 90 skaters. Performances are set for Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. plus Sunday at 2 p.m., and tickets cost $10 in advance.  KFYR-TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • North Dakota’s 18 ports of entry, including the busy Pembina, boost cross-border commerce daily. Canadian railcars and heavy trucks carry goods like grain, lumber, and equipment through border towns — adding vital tax revenue to support state services.  Northern Sentry

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Month of the Military Child celebrates students from military families with a calendar of local events offering freebies & discounts and a song recommendation to support kids who may move six to nine times during their education.  Northern Sentry
  • Heritage Singers donated $2,000 — raised from their annual variety show — to support the Minot North High School choral program. School officials and choir members joined the presentation.  Minot Daily News
  • Williston State College will hold a press conference on Monday, Apr. 20 at 2:30 p.m. at the Teton Lounge to announce bachelor’s degree programs by Minot State and Valley City for its Degree Bridge program; Minot State offers three on-campus and two hybrid options, and Valley City offers one option.  KFYR-TV

  • Maj. Gen. Stacy Jo Huser, once stationed in Minot, addressed over 250 attendees at the Chamber/EDC annual meeting, sharing her 30-year Air Force journey and highlighting how family — a key support in her career — shaped her path.  Northern Sentry
  • Airman 1st Class Randi Griffith (a nationally competitive boxer) used her boxing background to build focus and discipline, which helped her excel with the Tactical Response Force at Minot AFB and prepare for high-risk security missions.  Northern Sentry
