GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ North Dakota taxpayers may not know what their property tax relief will look like until the legislative session ends because legislators met in Minot on Saturday to consider several reform bills — including one that offers a tax credit and caps local spending — designed to adjust property levies. Rep. Scott Louser said the bills, which also address school district levy adjustments, could be finalized near the session's end. Minot Daily News
- ➤ City council approved a new job description for the fire department’s public safety analyst to support police, fire, and emergency dispatch with tasks like budgeting, purchasing, and grant management. The new role will serve as a liaison with human resources and finance and will continue to be funded through the fire department’s budget—city leaders said the change is meant to improve workflow. - ➤ A North Dakota State Fair bill that passed the Senate 44-3 faced a setback in the House because a law bans state funding for fair projects. At a legislative forum, Rep. Scott Louser said the fair asked for money to improve security and build a facility for camping showers, and legislators plan to remove the ban—though they have not yet succeeded. Minot Daily News
