COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Registration is open for summer youth recreation programs offered by the Minot Park District & kids can choose fastpitch starting the week of June 1 or other sports and art classes beginning the week of June 8, with free spring track and Summer Olympics also available.  Minot Daily News
  • F5 Project will host its first Reentry Meal and Connection event at Bread of Life Lutheran Church in Minot on April 6 at 6:30 p.m. The monthly gathering aims to support reentry into the community and foster positive connections with law enforcement.  KFYR-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • North Dakota Miss Amazing 2026 queens were named at Minot State University (March 14-15) from a statewide pageant for women and girls with disabilities. The winners, including Mentor Queen Sheryl Beard from Williston and Sr. Miss Queen Ashley Hanson from Minot, will attend the National Summit in Chicago this summer.  Minot Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Two four-year seats on Minot Public School District #1's School Board are open for election. Candidates must submit required forms by Monday, Apr. 6 at 4:00 p.m. at the district office (215 2nd St. SE) and candidate forums will be held at City Hall from April 11 to April 16.  Northern Sentry
  • North Plains Elementary School's music room is hosting creative music classes this year where students experiment with fidget spinner beats, bucket drumming, and a rhythm restaurant activity. They are also engaging in Music Madness as a board game that promotes teamwork and musical learning.  Northern Sentry

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Chief Master Sergeant Mary Grace Martin has been selected for the rank with the 5th Force Support Squadron at Minot Air Force Base today after more than two decades of service, crediting family and community support for her success. She will lead efforts to mentor Airmen and improve the workplace.  Northern Sentry
  • Air Force leaders visited Minot AFB on Feb. 23-24 to review readiness and modernization plans with 5th Bomb Wing Airmen and local civic leaders, discussing upgrades to the B-52 fleet & recognizing high-performing teams.  Northern Sentry
  • SMSgt Tiawanna Dunn was promoted to Chief Master Sergeant at Minot AFB, marking a milestone in her over 20-year Air Force career. She continues to mentor fellow Airmen and balance her role with family life (her husband shared the news).  Northern Sentry
  • At Minot AFB on Feb. 12, food service airmen held an internal cooking contest that let them work together to create new dishes and improve menu options. The event helped the team sharpen their culinary skills and boost the dining facility's offerings.  Minot Daily News
  • Chief Jonathan Navnit Panchal credited his older brother and family support for inspiring a lifelong Air Force career; five senior NCOs from Minot AFB, including Panchal, were selected as 2026 Chief Master Sergeants + his story underscores the impact of strong family ties on service.  Northern Sentry

  • Minot State women’s hockey beat No. 10 Jamestown 5-1 Saturday in a tuneup game thanks to early Makayla Peters’ goal and strong team play. The team now prepares for pool play at the ACHA National Tournament in Maryland Heights, which began March 18.  Minot Daily News
