  • Great Plains Food Bank started its Grow, Give, Gain program in 2024 to let farmers and ranchers donate crops and beef by filling out an online form and taking it to a stockyard or elevator—Abby Tow said donations of beans, grains and corn give tax benefits that help feed the community.  KFYR-TV
  • Vietnam veteran David Henderson was honored with a quilt during a Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4 meeting and coffee social in Minot on Wednesday. The quilt, made by Chris Senn, was presented by members of the Peace and Honor Chapter of Quilts of Valor to recognize his service to the country.  Minot Daily News
  • Boy Scout Troop 425 and Cub Scout Pack 425 will hold their 13th annual Fill-R-Canoes food drive Tuesday, March 25, from 5-7 p.m. at four Marketplace Foods locations — 20th Avenue Southwest, Arrowhead, Broadway and North Hill — where non-perishable food and cash donations will go to Peace Lutheran Church Pantry to support those in need.  Minot Daily News

CRIME NEWS

  • Yesterday, testimony in the Nichole Rice murder trial in Grand Forks focused on a knife — linked to the homicide — and a window screen, with Minot Police noting they accepted help from Cold Justice because of staffing shortages after the 2011 flood and local oil boom while Rice remains presumed innocent and the case continues into next week.  KFYR-TV
  • On Wednesday afternoon in Grand Forks the trial of Nichole Rice resumed as investigators testified about the investigation into Anita Knutson’s murder—Minot witness Laura Knapp explained she unlocked the apartment on June 4 and police described evidence including a knife—while Rice’s attorney questioned her statements and testimony is set to resume at 8:30 a.m. today.  Minot Daily News

  • On Feb 18, Minot State University’s Science Department held the annual Science Olympiad for mainly third to sixth graders along with some second and eighth graders. The event featured hands-on demos & magic shows, and winners were named for team and event competitions in many subjects.  Minot Daily News
