COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Pilots from across the country and local areas can earn a leather flight jacket by completing the Passport program that takes them to North Dakota's 89 public airports and to visit Fargo and Minot Air Museums + attend three FAA safety seminars. The program boosts tourism and hones aviation skills.  KFYR-TV
  • Registration is now open for youth rec programs at Minot Parks; t-ball, baseball, and art classes will start in May and June, with spring track and summer Olympics also offered (scholarships available).  KFYR-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Silobration 2.0 will be held Friday, Aug. 28 in Citizens Alley to celebrate the Union Silo Public Art Project. The event commemorates Guido van Helten’s mural painted last fall on a downtown grain elevator and will feature local singer Chloe Raye.  Minot Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Minot middle schoolers on a history trip to Washington, D.C. were stranded last week by a winter storm; the community raised funds for activities including Senate and Library tours and an NBA game while half return Tuesday and the rest fly home later this week—ensuring learning continues.  KFYR-TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday morning, state environmental officials told county commissioners that a notice of violation was issued to a Surrey feedlot operator after over 470 dead cattle were found. The owners have 30 days to respond as officials plan further compliance steps.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The North Dakota Industrial Commission has added $100 million to the Farm Financial Stability Loan Program at the Bank of North Dakota to help farmers face inflation & low commodity prices. Applications now accepted will close on June 30 or sooner if funds run out.  KFYR-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Trinity Health St. Joseph’s announced it will cease operations today (with patient services shifted to other local facilities) to keep healthcare accessible for patients. This change represents a significant update in community health services.  KFYR-TV

  • On Thursday, Mar. 19, Bishop Ryan and Our Redeemer’s will renew their friendly rivalry when the Lions and Knights meet in the state quarterfinals at the MSU Dome (players share mutual respect on and off court).  Minot Daily News
