- ➤ Local pilot Warren Pietsch was inducted into North Dakota Aviation Hall of Fame Tuesday, Mar. 10 at the Clarion Hotel during the Fly North Dakota Conference banquet. Gov. Kelly Armstrong proclaimed March as Aviation Month while Pietsch thanked his family and supporters for inspiring his lifelong passion for flight. Minot Daily News

- ➤ The Minot Symphony Orchestra will celebrate its 100th season with Ode to Joy and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 on Saturday, March 21 at 7 p.m. A pre-concert talk at 6 p.m. will preview the program featuring choirs and the premiere of the new anthem (Open Prairies, Open Arms, Open Hearts). - ➤ Minot could soon host a pig iron plant that aims to cut imports and boost domestic steel for military use, North American Iron CEO Jim Bougalis said at a Tuesday, Mar. 11 Energy Committee meeting (the project would create around 2000 to 3000 construction jobs with work starting in 2027). - ➤ ND Sober Ride, a program to reduce impaired driving, is celebrating five years with new $10 discounted ride vouchers through Lyft and Uber for the St. Patrick’s Day holiday. The vouchers will be available March 13 to 17 (while codes last), helping residents plan safe rides home. Minot Daily News
