BUSINESS NEWS

  • Five local agriculture businesses secured $1 million in state funding last month to boost job growth and expand the ag economy. Applications for the Agriculture Diversification and Development Fund's next round are due April 1.  KFYR-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Minot actor Kalen Hill stars as Nathan Detroit in the University of Mary production of Guys and Dolls. The show runs at Belle Mehus Auditorium in downtown Bismarck starting Friday, March 20 at 7 p.m. with additional performances on Saturday, March 21 (2 and 7 p.m.) and Sunday, March 22 (2 p.m.).  Minot Daily News
  • Minot author Barb Solberg will speak Tuesday, March 24 at 2 p.m. at Minot State University’s Gordon B. Olson Library, where the retired MSU writing professor presents her historical fiction novel What We Leave Behind and hosts a Q&A and book signing.  Minot Daily News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Workforce officials in northwest North Dakota noted that more jobs remain available than there are applicants as work shifts into more technical fields beyond oil. Job Service ND will host a job fair in Williston on Mar. 19 at Williston State College from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.  KFYR-TV
  • Farmers in North Dakota face rising fuel and fertilizer costs from war-related shipping delays through the Strait of Hormuz + many are stocking up on inputs and opting for lower-cost crops for the upcoming spring season.  KFYR-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Minot State University Nursing will host 'Limitless: Finding Strength When Everything Changes in an Instant' Tuesday, March 24 at 7 p.m. John Thompson will recount his recovery from a farm accident and discuss his book Home In One Piece, with nurses earning one free CEU (continuing education credit).  Minot Daily News
  • Third and seventh graders statewide can enter the ND League of Cities' essay contest — asking what they would do if they were mayor — with a $150 prize for each winner. Entries are due this Friday.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The ND Department of Agriculture awarded nearly $400,000 to four ag projects to help rural businesses develop and expand their products. Applications for the next round of funding will be due April 1 (this effort supports local agricultural growth).  KFYR-TV
  • State lawmakers are working to allow E15 blended fuel for year-round sale + this change aims to expand the domestic market for corn and soybeans to support local farmers. The proposal could be part of the 2026 Farm Bill before it reaches the House floor.  KFYR-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • ND Sober Ride marks its five-year service by offering $10 ride vouchers for Lyft and Uber ahead of St. Patrick’s Day. The vouchers will be available March 13-17 to help curb impaired driving on local roads.  KFYR-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Former Century and Minot High swim coach Kathy Aspaas was named a Lifetime Achievement Award winner by WeCoach for her 45-year career that yielded 28 state championships. She is one of six recipients (including Billie Jean King) recognized for her trailblazing leadership in empowering girls in sports.  KFYR-TV
