  • Flying B Roofing in Minot is accepting nominations for its 8th Annual Free Roof Giveaway, which gives local families in need a free new roof; nominations are due by April 15 and the winner will be announced May 5 (owner Wayne Bontrager described the event as a community support opportunity).  Minot Daily News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Magic City Figure Skating Club will host its annual ice show — Heroes vs. Villains on Ice — from March 27-29 at the Pepsi Rink inside Maysa Arena, with 7 p.m. performances on Friday and Saturday and a 2 p.m. show on Sunday.  Minot Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Taylor Fedorenko, who began at the Quentin N. Burdick Job Corps Center as a 16-year-old, now manages Hanson Excavating in Minot+ he mentors current student Erik Heim while crediting his success to instructor Gary Norman's guidance.  Minot Daily News

  • The Bank of North Dakota plans to launch Roughrider Coin stablecoin next September after state officials review its proposal at a March 25 meeting. The digital currency is aimed at streamlining bank transactions (marking BND’s entry into FinTech).  Minot Daily News

  • Local sponsors and FM Volunteers for Ukraine say delays in processing work authorizations are straining the 500 Ukrainians working in North Dakota through the Uniting for Ukraine program — they ask the federal government for a two-year extension to ease high fees and slow approvals.  Minot Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • West Fargo's boys swimming and diving team won all 12 events at Hulbert Aquatic Center on Saturday, March 7 to claim a third state title while setting five new relay and individual records. Minot High finished sixth and Minot North placed 13th in team standings.  Minot Daily News
  • Benson County’s girls basketball team clinched third place with a 62 — 57 win over Berthold at the MSU Dome on Saturday, March 7, earning a bronze finish after bouncing back from a semifinal loss. Coach Bryan Kenner praised the players for their resilience and key rebounds.  Minot Daily News
  • LaMoure-Litchville-Marion girls basketball team won its first state title with a 64 to 49 win over top seeded Central McLean on Saturday, March 7 at the MSU Dome — LaMoure will celebrate its boys team 50th state title anniversary next week.  Minot Daily News
  • The Rugby High School Panthers advanced to the Region 3A semifinals after defeating the Stanley Blue Jays 62-51 in a key quarterfinal match on Monday. They will face the Turtle Mountain Community High School Braves at 5:30 p.m. in the semifinals.  Minot Daily News
  • Balfour native and NDSU alum Cordell Volson signed a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans on Mar. 9. The contract is worth up to $4.125 million with $2.45 million guaranteed, following his missed season with the Bengals due to a shoulder injury.  KFYR-TV
