ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices statewide have risen by about 10 cents per gallon in the past week due to the war with Iran, leaving the cost at $2.85 per gallon—over six cents more than last month.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Visit Minot announced a state-funded effort to assess hospitality workforce needs and to build a hiring and training strategy for local businesses (the ND Commerce Regional Workforce Impact Program awarded the project last month and it will also offer A.I. guidance).  KFYR-TV
  • Airmen from the 91st Missile Wing at Minot Air Force Base conducted a scheduled test launch of an unarmed Minuteman III missile Tuesday at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The launch, planned years ago to measure reentry vehicle performance, will inform future development.  KFYR-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Mountrail Bethel Home dedicated its new long-term care facility in Stanley on Wednesday, March 4. Residents toured new rooms and ribbon cutting occurred as 36 skilled care beds plus 10 basic care beds became available while plans for hospital expansion and demolition of older wings continue.  Minot Daily News
  • A local restaurant experience shows that winter sunlight may not provide enough vitamin D—so local nutrition specialist Julie Garden-Robinson from NDSU Extension advises supplementing with foods like eggs and salmon wraps to keep bones strong.   • Seed starting time is coming soon as NDSU Extension horticulture agent Carrie Knutson advises local gardeners to disinfect seedling containers (using a 10% bleach solution) and use fresh potting mix to prevent disease and protect tomato plants.  Minot Daily News
