COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Families Flourish ND works statewide to provide child abuse prevention trainings and supportive programs such as Handle with Care and home visiting grants. The organization will launch a new grooming behaviors session in May and is coordinating policy recommendations for the 2027 legislative session.  Minot Daily News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Northside Market, which closed at the end of February after its gas station was sold, will reopen in early April at the same location. A new local owner said the eatery will remain and serve the community.  KFYR-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Chad Berger, a Hall of Fame cowboy, led a tour of his ranch along ND-6 (The Hall of Fame Highway) and explained how his family built a cattle business and local legacy in Mandan. He pointed out a secluded spot for champion bulls and expressed pride in his hometown.  KFYR-TV
  • The Ward County Historical Society received a $1,500 grant from Verendrye Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up program (funded by volunteer rounding) to restore a 24-horse carousel from a Minot park and display it at the Pioneer Village Museum in Burlington for community events.  Minot Daily News
  • Donations led by Turtle Mountain tribal chairman Jamie Azure have upgraded Minot State’s Native American Cultural Center (NACC) with new furniture and decor that make it feel more homey; officials will meet with student and tribal groups soon to plan further improvements.  KFYR-TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • North Dakota earned its first Governor’s Cup from Site Selection Magazine for having the most qualifying new and expanded corporate facilities per capita in 2025, the Department of Commerce said. Gov. Kelly Armstrong said communities + lawmakers and industry partners helped secure a milestone that spurs steady economic growth.  Minot Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Surrey Public School board voted Monday to offer the permanent superintendent role to Steven Bucks, who currently leads Malta Public Schools in Montana and will begin contract negotiations following the buyout of former superintendent David Gerding's agreement.  KFYR-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • South Prairie and Max high school girls basketball teams will play in a Class A contest this season (details pending). Fans can look forward to further updates on game time and location soon.  KFYR-TV
