BUSINESS NEWS

  • Work to demolish the former Burger Time on South Broadway began Wednesday after the restaurant closed after 20 years of service, officials said.  KFYR-TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • North Dakota's Bakken region saw a 6.38% drop in oil production from November to December, and industry leaders expect flat output through 2026—low global oil prices may curb future gains.  KFYR-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Stanley Elementary, special education students run a coffee club every Friday to brew and serve drinks, build confidence, and practice social skills. The long-running club—active for over five years—raises funds for field trips and therapy sessions.  KFYR-TV
  • Minot State University began demolishing Dakota Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 25. The university said demolition will finish mid-May — after which the site will be converted into a green space.  Minot Daily News
  • MSU's TRIO program offers academic tutoring, course advice and personal guidance plus financial aid help and budgeting workshops to first-generation, disabled and low-income students, with support lasting up to six years as director Katy Allers said the program helps them overcome challenges and build campus success.  Minot Daily News
  • Bottineau + Corey Gorder, interim campus dean, has been named permanent dean effective immediately at Dakota College at Bottineau, as announced by MSU/DCB president Dr. Steven Shirley. Gorder, who joined the college in 2013, succeeds Dr. Carmen Simone.  Minot Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Minot's Harmony Center will hold a free monthly chronic pain support group starting March 10 at 4:30 p.m. & locals will share care tips and advice as Peer Vision for Mental Health works to bridge the care gap.  KFYR-TV
  • Minot High HOSA club donated eight bedding sets, heated blankets and other items to Trinity CancerCare Cottage to help out-of-town cancer patients receive treatment (funded by a $1,000 Give360 grant and student fundraising with pink candy and ribbons).  KFYR-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Minot North High School’s goalie coach Eric Woodbeck (a math teacher) received a send-off as he and his US men’s sled hockey team prepare for the Paralympic Winter Games in Italy. They will fly out later this week for the ceremonies on March 6 and a game on March 7.  KFYR-TV
  • The Minot State Beavers swept Bismarck State College (5-4 in the first game and 9-1 in the second) on Wednesday, Feb. 25, improving their record to 8-2 and extending a four-game win streak. They head to Jamestown to face the University of Jamestown today.  Minot Daily News
  • St. Mary’s junior wrestler Dylan Mosset won the 127 lb Class A state championship, echoing the legacy of his grandfather, Tom Dietz (1966 champion). The athlete is now training to become a two-time state champ at upcoming meets in our community.  KFYR-TV
