  • SRT Communications promoted Jesse Ketteman to director of Regulatory Compliance; the veteran, who joined the cooperative in 2005 and served as Regulatory Affairs manager since 2022, will now lead risk management and uphold ethical standards — CEO Cassidy Hjelmstad praised his leadership.  Minot Daily News

  • Minot State University Summer Theatre is accepting auditions for its 61st season and will require a headshot plus a short video of a song and monologue submitted online by March 20.  KFYR-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Surrey Public Schools are planning facility upgrades by replacing old portables with new classrooms + secure connecting structures to improve fire safety, and they need 60% voter approval on a nearly $6M loan. A survey in your mailbox closes on March 2 to gauge community support.  KFYR-TV
  • The North Dakota Farm Bureau holds its annual safety and producer recognition week from March 8 to 14, featuring a drawing contest for fourth and fifth graders with submissions due March 4.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • U.S. Air Force airmen from the 91st Missile Security Operations Squadron conducted a force on force exercise at Garrison on Feb. 6 using machine guns + smoke cover to simulate defeating adversary threats. HEALTH NEWS

  • In the wake of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance in Arizona, local senior care providers and law enforcement are stressing safety measures for older residents today, highlighting the need for secure camera use and vigilance against scams. Health officials from Minot Lodge Senior Living and Ward County Sheriff advise caution with new technology.  KFYR-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Minot United boys wrestling qualified 11 wrestlers across eight weight classes to compete in the state tournament at the Fargodome on Thursday, Feb. 19. They earned notable placements, including a runner-up finish by Korbin Kraft at 139 pounds during last Saturday’s tournament in Belcourt.  Minot Daily News
  • Today, less natural snow forces winter attractions to adjust as Mandan’s Huff Hills ski resort uses Snow Max for artificial snow while Bismarck Parks and Rec cancels parts of its annual Flurry Fest amid above normal winter temperatures.  KFYR-TV
  • Surrey Mustangs won in overtime by a 56+54 score against Our Redeemer’s at the Minot Municipal Auditorium on Saturday, Feb. 14. Laney Will’s 3-pointer secured the win and the team will face Kenmare-Bowbells in the Region 3 Tournament on Monday, Feb. 23.  Minot Daily News
  • Junior state champion Laila Christianson from Des Lacs-Burlington committed to NDSU for college golf last Friday — she won her second state title last fall after competing at the PGA Girls High School Golf National Invitational and joins a team that placed third in the Summit League Championship.  KFYR-TV
  • The Mavericks won 63-30 over TGU in a regional qualifier at Minot Municipal Auditorium on Saturday, Feb. 14 and celebrated with a water bath — a comeback after a tough loss. They will face Tioga in regionals on Monday, Feb. 23.  Minot Daily News
  • Minot State's women's basketball lost 76+67 to Minnesota State Moorhead at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse on Saturday, Feb. 14. Jessica Mogen led with 23 points and the Beavers will face Jamestown on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 5:30 p.m.  Minot Daily News
