- ➤ The ND League of Cities announced an annual 'If I Were Mayor' essay contest for third and seventh graders with entries due March 13. Essays must be original and one page long, and winners will each receive $150 and be honored during City Government Week, April 6 — 10. Minot Daily News

- ➤ Airmen assigned to the 91st Security Forces Group honed their skills in extreme conditions on Jan. 20 at Minot Air Force Base during the Cold Weather Defender Course & completed phases that included a medical refresher, rope descent instruction and a 12-hour watch for missile field security.
