- ➤ Minot Public Library has named Joshua Pikka as its new director, effective immediately. He served as interim director since July and worked as Technology and Circulation librarian since March 2016 + he earned a Master’s degree from Wayne State University in Detroit. Minot Daily News
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Visit Minot reported a 6.7% decline in local visitors last year with statewide tourism dropping 6.5% and a 20% fall in Canadian traffic (official figures show ongoing recovery efforts). KFYR-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ North Dakota Parks and Recreation is seeking volunteer campground hosts for summer positions — applicants will welcome campers, clean up park areas, and sell firewood while earning free camping during a one to three-month service. KFYR-TV
- ➤ The League of Women Voters of ND has launched the new 'Guide to the State Legislative Branch' to help students and the public learn about state lawmaking, and they released a companion classroom guide with activities and discussion questions for teachers. Minot Daily News
- ➤ Minot reported no water main breaks this month due to mild temperatures, marking an improvement over four breaks last January and 39 bursts in 2025. The city will start replacing pipes on 11th Avenue NW and 2nd Avenue SW this summer. KFYR-TV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A public health nurse from First District Health Unit said the ongoing flu season has caused 5,000 cases, nearly 400 hospitalizations and five deaths with multiple virus strains making symptoms severe; she advised residents to stay hydrated, rest, wash hands and avoid contact for 24 hours after a fever subsides.
